Young starlings and bluejays 7-15-11
August 25, 2011 Bird Suet Feeder
One young starling explores the hollow of the stump holding our elevated bird bath and bird feeder, the second is content to drink deeply. Next is a visit from a couple young bluejays, most likely siblings. One of the bluejays looks like it would like to eat some of the suet cake but then joins his/her sibing at the water. Their visit is ended abrubtly, probably by me coming out to check on the camera (doh)

Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.

Nice to watch young birds – they are more curious. It’s a good one.
@my35Xvision – thank you. I like how the starling watches the other birds in the yard.
Thats so cute how he comes out of the stump! Today I had a baby Robin check out my bird bath for the first time,, he would hop in and just stand there for 2-30 seconds then hop out,, did this numerous times! Nice bluejays!!
@NaturesFairy – I hear starlings can be a problem for farmers in large swarms and hence have some negative press. For myself, I simply adore their antics, they really crack me up. We have 4 houses that the starlings raise families in each year. They are a riot to watch
Funny story about he Robin. We keep one bird bath down on the ground for the purpose of babies that fall out of the nest. I am told it is very important they get to water soon.
