Coffey Dog Vs. The Hungry Squirrels

Posted by Filed Under Bird Suet Feeder with No Comments

Just my dog coffey and I loving the suet feeder we put out for the birds recently but got squirrels instead. In many ways it is better and more entertaining to watch them rather than the birds. Sort of on the long side but we enjoyed watching the squirrels hang upside down stretch and reach to get the suet.

The Types Of Tray Feeder You Can Use

TRAY feeders are versatile feeders; You can feed more birds than types of food at a given time. Feeder tray also allow you a view of birds feeding. A tray feeder should be the centerpiece of your backyard feeders. I recommend a feeder of plateau of high quality as your first purchase, if you start just to feed the birds. With tray feeders food is in plain view, so it will attract birds, migrants, to a new station of food quickly.

TRAY feeders are an investment, the price of a well built may seem high, but construction and solid materials are worth the money because the loader will last for years. I had one of the mines for more than 14 years. When you purchase a wood one sure, it is built with screws, glue and solid wood. If you prefer a plastic, which are easier to clean, make sure that it is composed of a solid material strong. I like the recycled plastic ones, that you can buy.

Hanging feeder:

If you have only a tray loader a hanging one would be the best. They can be hanged in a post or a member of the tree and are easy to move if you want to put in another area of your garden. Don’t forget a dome or a type of guard of the squirrel.

Mount for fattening of position:

If you have an area where you can place a permanent plateau feeder, I would use a position of editing with a squirrel baffle. The frames of positions are more stable, to attract the larger birds, and you can use a larger feeder. A type that i like has combined a plateau and a suet cake feeder.

Fly through feeder:

This type of charger is usually post mounted because of its size. The benefits of the fly through are the roof keeps the dry seeds in wet weather and birds feel more protected. Some birds, you’ll see here you won’t see at feeders open. There are same squirrel resistant feeders types.

Soil tray feeders:

It comes to bird feeders usually opened with short legs. I use these for ground of feeding of birds (dove, quail, grouse, native sparrows, juncos, Towhees, ducks) and to provide specific foods, gravel, or salt. I have one with cracked corn that I place behind some bushes as far from my other feeders as possible. It is to distract the squirrels, common grackles and Blackbirds.

The nice things on the feeders of plateau is that you can offer a wide variety of foods. A mixture of high-quality black oil sunflower, safflower, white millet, Canary seed and parts of peanut is a good place to start for the hanging or post mount feeders. You can also try dried cherries, grapes, raisins, chopped suet or tallow treats. Keep a control on what birds in your area as the best and stop the power of what they like or what attracts the birds you do not want to feed.

TRAY feeders are the best way to attract many birds and many different birds. They are also the best way to offer a wider variety of foods. You’ll like they are easy to use. It is time that you have purchased a tray feeder.

Hanging Squirrel Raids Suet Feeder

Well if you have ever heard the Bob Marley song, “Three Little Birds”, that is sort of what I have at my place. But instead of birds at my window, my dog Coffey and I also have Three Little Squirrels that keep us entertained and happy. Well Coffey not so much but gives him something to protect for time to time, and in that he finds much enjoyment I can tell. The squirrel climb up our brick building then go for the feeder I got hanging from a thin wire from my window. So to get to the feeder they have to reach, stretch and hang upside down hanging by their back claws to get at the feeder and chow down… in this short video there is just one hanging I do have a longer video of all three of them, but have trouble uploading them at the present moment. Maybe soon!? Oh and Bob fans yes I know it wasn’t really birds the song was written about…
