Looking for a way (non-lethal!) to keep chipmunks from eating all the bird food I put out?
March 29, 2010 Bird Suet Feeder
Sister in law just moved into a house, has a side patio that is shaded on 3 sides by several tall arbor vitae bushes, she has been putting bird seed in her feeders, and has been invaded by chipmunks. What can she do to keep them out of the bird food ? She is feeding seed mixes and suet . The chipmunks are eating it all.

Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.

May I suggest this…

really skinny polls so they can`t climb it
Where there is food, there are critters!! The trick is in learning what critters can’t do!
For pole type bird feeders: grease the pole with petroleum jelly. They will get the message pretty quick and go elsewhere for goodies.
Use squirrel "baffles" of inverted metal cones on bird feeder poles or wires that suspend the feeders. There are many homemade variations on this method.
Feed the chipmunks what they like best: peanuts in the shell. They’ll leave your feeders alone because they are so busy hauling peanuts to their dens.
