I would like some really, really simple ways to make some suet cakes for feed my wild birds in my bird suet feeder. I found a few recipes, but, I also have some other questions regarding this as well. Can I put in uncooked rice or pasta in the bird mix? Can I use Crisco instead of going to the butch

Sister in law just moved into a house, has a side patio that is shaded on 3 sides by several tall arbor vitae bushes, she has been putting bird seed in her feeders, and has been invaded by chipmunks. What can she do to keep them out of the bird food ? She is feeding seed mixes and suet . The chipmunks are eating it all.

Downy Woodpecker Eating Suet

Male Downy Woodpecker eating homemade suet on a stationary suet trellis. Adults bring their young to feed at this trellis. A stationary trellis gives the birds a more stable platform to feed on and they stay feeding for longer. It also allows more than one bird to feed on a suet cake at one time–if the woodpecker will allow it. If it is a smaller bird, like a chickadee or nuthatch, it usually can feed at the same time. Several Black-capped Chickadees feed here in the video, too.
Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.
